Hey everyone, PLEASE support this business.  I stopped in last Saturday and had the crab cakes w/ smashed potatoes and the fresh bean medley – deelicious!!!  They are right next to the Black Star Community Bookstore.  The place has a really hip, bistro feel.  I loved it.

From a University District resident…
I had the pleasure of dining this evening at the new 1917 American Bistro. The decor is spacious, simple, attractive and clean with warm tones. The menu has a varied selection of appetizers, sandwiches, salads, entrees such as Cajun and blackened catfish or chicken, steak ,shrimp, ribs and chicken Alfred. Our table ordered the crab cakes, Cajun catfish and Cajun chicken with fresh bean medley and wild rice, a build it yourself burger with fries. All items were cooked perfectly, plated nicely, delicious and plentiful. Excellent coffee, a New York style cheesecake with fresh strawberries and raspberries finished off the fine meal. Prices range from 5 to 15 dollars for good food, great service and nice atmosphere.
Take out available…. Sunday Brunch from 10-3 (which we plan to check out this Sunday).
